Briefing

ABI 3500/3500xL set a completely new standard for capillary electrophoresis.

Detailed

American Applied Biosystems, known for its technological innovation, recently launched the new 3500 Series Genetic Analyzers, setting a completely new standard for capillary electrophoresis. It integrates a series of platform innovations designed for optical and thermal systems, opening up an innovative consumable system. The common superposition of these elements makes 3500 Series products the gene analyzers of the highest performance ever.

One of the features of 3500 system is its advanced long-life solid-state laser, which reduces the physical and environmental footprint of the system and also reduces the cost of acquisition. 3500 system uses standard power outlets which is more convenient. The system's laser produces less heat than traditional designs, eliminating the need to build pipelines in the lab. In addition, these features also reduce the overall size of the instrument as much as possible, providing the highest performance while occupying less laboratory space.

System Components
Applied Biosystems 3500 and 3500xL Gene Analyzer contain the following components:
• capillary electrophoresis apparatus
• 8-capillary (3500 system) or 24-capillary (3500xL system) arrays and polymers
• Special reagents and consumables for DNA sequencing and/or fragment analysis
• Dell Computer Workstations and LCD Monitors
• Integrated software for instrument control, data collection, quality control, and automatic analysis of sample files for base calls and fragment screening

• 8-capillary (3500 system) or 24-capillary (3500xL system) arrays.
• Advanced thermal system design improves temperature control in demanding DNA fragment analysis applications.
• Single 505nm solid-state laser — uses a standard power supply; no heat dissipation needed.
• Significantly improves the signal consistency between instruments, operations and capillaries.
• Powerful comprehensive data collection and preliminary analysis software provide real-time assessment on data quality.
• Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology tracks critical consumable data and records management information.
• Advanced multiplex analysis of DNA fragments using up to 6 unique dyes.
• Unmatched application flexibility - an array and a polymer compatible with most applications.
• Simple installation, operation and maintenance.
